On the afternoon of June 5th, 2020, the Sino-British (Xinxiang-Wales) international video seminar on integration of production and education initiated by Sino-British science and technology innovation platform was a complete success. Xinxiang municipal government and the Welsh government of the United Kingdom attached great importance to and strongly supported it. Wang Zhanbo, deputy mayor of Xinxiang Municipal People's Government, Li Chengwei, president of Henan University of Science and Technology, Wu Jian, director of China Institute of Radio Wave Communication, Huang Xiuqiao, director of Institute of Farmland Irrigation of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Xia, vice president of Henan University of Science and Technology, leaders and experts of science and technology bureau, education bureau and other relevant government units, colleges and research institutions attended the meeting in the comprehensive conference room of Henan University of Science and Technology. Ian Quick, Director of Overseas Office of the British Government of Wales, Ma Qingyun, Chief Representative of China Office, Samantha Williams, chris young, officials of Innovation Department of the Ministry of Commerce and Trade, Elizabeth Treger, President of the University of Alberta, Shen Qiang, Vice-President, and heads of relevant departments and departments attended the video conference in Wales. Ren Xiang, Chairman of China-UK Science and Technology Innovation Platform, attended the meeting as the Chinese host.
In his speech, Vice Mayor Wang Zhanbo said that Xinxiang vigorously implemented the strategy of open innovation, actively promoted exchanges and cooperation with friendly countries including Britain in science and technology, culture, education, trade and other fields, and achieved good results. Today's seminar has further narrowed the distance between Xinxiang City and the University of Alberta and Wales, opened up a new channel for practical cooperation between the two sides in the fields of science and technology project docking and joint education, and laid a solid foundation. Xinxiang municipal government will vigorously support the institutions and enterprises in the new universities to further strengthen communication and exchanges with the well-known institutions and enterprises in Britain, including the University of Alberta, and strive for more cooperation projects to blossom in Xinxiang. Xinxiang will provide preferential policies and excellent services for the cooperation between excellent enterprises and research institutes in Wales and local universities and enterprises, and jointly write a new chapter of scientific and technological cooperation, openness and win-win.
At the meeting, Elizabeth Trege, president of Abel University, Shen Qiang, vice president, Li Chengwei, president of Henan Institute of Science and Technology, Wu Jian, director of China Institute of Radio Communication, and Huang Xiuqiao, director of farmland irrigation research institute respectively introduced the specific profiles of their respective schools and units, which strengthened mutual understanding between China and Britain and provided more possibilities for the follow-up integration of production and education and comprehensive international innovation cooperation.
Subsequently, the Chinese and British sides conducted in-depth discussions on the Sino-British smart farm project, joint education cooperation, joint work promotion mechanism and the invitation of the British side as the guest country to participate deeply in the Xinxiang Hi-Tech Fair in October. On this basis, we accelerated the landing of Xinxiang-Wales International Science and Technology Innovation Alliance City, which laid a solid foundation for the innovation cooperation and development between the two places, and also created favorable conditions for Henan-British international cooperation, the high-quality development of Henan economy and the construction of a new highland for opening up.
Ren Xiang, chairman of the platform, said in his final concluding remarks that this video conference is an innovation conference across time zones, governments and institutions, and it is the content upgrade and form innovation of Sino-British science and technology innovation platform, and thanks for the participation and support of leaders and experts. China-UK Science and Technology Innovation Platform is one of the three development elements of China-UK Science and Technology Innovation Platform. It aims to rely on the national "the belt and road initiative" strategy, coordinate Chinese and foreign resources, build a two-way interactive channel between China and Britain, truly achieve deep and multi-dimensional innovation cooperation with the UK, develop innovative science and technology in the Central Plains, and serve for promoting the high-quality development of Zhengzhou economy, accelerating the construction of national central cities and realizing a more brilliant blueprint of the Central Plains.
