On the afternoon of November 19, 2025, a symposium on innovative development of China-UK cultural export was successfully held at the Jiyun Investment Building. Hosted by China-UK Technology and Innovation Platform(CNUKTIP), the symposium focused on in-depth discussions of core issues related to the overseas promotion of Henan's cultural and creative products and projects, jointly exploring new mechanisms and pathways for cultural export.

The symposium brought together officials from relevant government departments, university scholars, industry experts, and enterprise representatives. Ren Xiang, Chairman of the Sino-British Science and Technology Innovation Platform, led the platform's management team to attend. Yan Pengchang, Fourth-Level Investigator of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Department of the United Front Work Department of the Henan Provincial Committee, Zhang Kunyue, Deputy County Head of Zhongmu New Area, and Guan Shilei, Director of the Culture and Tourism Bureau of Zhongmu New Area, were invited to participate and provide guidance. Professor Jiao Bin, Assistant Dean and Doctoral Supervisor of the School of Art and Design at Zhengzhou University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Liu Ning, Associate Professor at Henan University of Engineering and Visiting Scholar at Lancaster University, participated as representatives from the academic and design communities.
At the beginning of the meeting, Chairman Ren Xiang introduced the background and achievements of CNUKTIP, focusing on its role in promoting China-UK cooperation in science and technology and cultural innovation, particularly the overseas hosting and impact of the Yellow Emperor Ancestor Worship Ceremony over the years. He emphasized the important role of innovative design in enhancing the effectiveness of cultural dissemination.
Professor Jiao Bin, drawing on his years of experience in cultural tourism and creative industries, shared the results and overall plans for collaborations with several museums. He pointed out that the cultural and creative market has enormous potential, and IP development is key to the integration of culture and tourism. He emphasized the need to deeply explore cultural resources and actively cultivate cultural IPs with international influence.
Associate Professor Liu Ning reviewed her planning experience since the first Ancestor Worship Ceremony in 2006 and shared her observations and reflections on the overseas dissemination of Henan culture during her study abroad visit to the UK. She stated that Henan possesses abundant and comprehensive intangible cultural heritage resources, with a profound cultural foundation, providing a solid basis for cultural export. She suggested promoting the deep integration of intangible cultural heritage and creative industries, developing museum-related intangible cultural heritage products, and expanding dissemination channels through public cultural spaces.

Deputy County Head Zhang Kunyue introduced the development of the cultural tourism industry in Zhongmu County. As "China's No. 1 Theme Park County," Zhongmu boasts eight theme parks, and its cultural and creative products cover the regional characteristics of the entire province. She stated that Zhongmu is actively exploring effective ways to promote local cultural and creative products overseas.
Researcher Yan Pengchang emphasized that cultural activities and products serve as emotional bonds and vehicles for cultural dissemination, contributing to enhanced national cultural soft power and promoting cultural exchange between China and other countries. He stressed that the design should highlight the annual theme and leverage the unique cultural characteristics of Henan Province.
The successful convening of this symposium not only clarified the direction for the platform's subsequent work but also laid a solid foundation for building a more efficient and smooth China-UK cultural exchange mechanism, marking a new stage of collaborative innovation and precise policy implementation in the international dissemination of Henan culture. CNUKTIP, as a core hub connecting CHina-UK innovation resources and serving industrial upgrading, will continue to deepen international cooperation, continuously promote Yellow Emperor culture, create international narrative IPs, stimulate the cultural innovation and creativity of the entire nation, further promote the implementation of the cultural export strategy, and assist in the international dissemination of Henan's cultural brands.
