Recently, the CNUKTIP and the London Medical Exchange (LME) held a strategic cooperation thematic meeting in London. Craig Dookie, founder of the LME, Wang Xi, project director of the China-UK Science and Technology Innovation Platform, and Du Yutong, operations director of the UK headquarters, attended the meeting. The two sides engaged in in-depth dialogue on core areas such as medical technology innovation, talent co-cultivation, and healthy aging, reaching a series of strategic cooperation consensuses.
Anchoring Strategic Direction, Deepening Collaborative Innovation
The meeting clarified that medical technology, education and training, and healthy aging are priority areas for cooperation. Both sides will leverage the vast potential of the Chinese medical market and the UK's cutting-edge technological resources to promote the localization and standardization of advanced medical systems, strengthen data security and compliance management, and create a model for transnational technology transfer. Simultaneously, they will introduce authoritative resources from the British Geriatrics Society to support the construction of a health and wellness pilot project in Henan Province, jointly building a sustainable health and wellness service system. In terms of talent cultivation, the two sides will promote the joint construction of laboratories by Chinese and British universities, explore new models for "research-clinical-industry" transformation, jointly cultivate high-end medical talent, accelerate the efficiency of scientific research results in clinical and industrial applications, and reserve core momentum for the development of medical technology.
Innovating Cooperation Mechanisms and Shaping a Win-Win Ecosystem
Addressing key challenges in cooperation, both sides proposed to break through with mechanism innovation and build an open, inclusive, and mutually beneficial cooperation ecosystem. This includes optimizing resource allocation models, establishing a collaborative mechanism for technology, capital, and policy to ensure efficient cooperation; deepening the principles of intellectual property protection and benefit sharing; and exploring flexible cooperation paths that align with the strategic needs of both parties.
Strengthening Long-Term Collaboration and Charting a Future Vision
The meeting established a normalized cooperation framework. Both sides will establish a multi-level communication mechanism to regularly assess cooperation progress and dynamically optimize the strategic layout. Next, the CNUKTIP will collaborate with relevant domestic institutions to accelerate the implementation of cooperative projects and prepare for high-level mutual visits and exchanges to deepen practical cooperation in areas such as technology research and development and industrial applications.
This cooperation is an important practice of the CNUKTIP in serving the national strategy of opening up to the outside world. In the future, both sides will work together to build a "new bridge" for international cooperation in medical technology, contributing more Sino-British wisdom and solutions to global medical innovation.
